Biography

A partner at Kuhn, Loeb & Co. who reorganized and consolidated railroads across the United States, including the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, the Missouri Pacific Railroad, the Wabash Railroad, the Chicago and Eastern Illinois Railroad, and the Texas and Pacific Railroad. A noted philanthropist and patron of the arts, Kahn also served as president and chairman of the board of directors for the Metropolitan Opera, vice-president of the New York Philharmonic and treasurer for the American Federation of Arts. Owner of both estates named "Oheka" built by architect Maurice Fatio in Palm Beach, Florida.

Scope and Contents

Contains an additional accession of one box with a Verascope viewer and approximately 75 45 x 107 mm glass plate stereoviews depicting scenes from France and Spain. Note on box dated 1948 states "Donacion a la Biblioteca del Colegio "Graham-Eckes" de Palm Beach- Fla. de su alumna. Mabel Guerra M. (de Cuba)."
