Biography

Known as "Jay" Phipps, the son of Henry Phipps Jr. and heir to the Phipps Family fortune. Phipps was a lawyer and businessman, served as a shareholder in Grace Shipping Lines, and was the director of the Hanover Bank, U.S. Steel Corp. and W. R. Grace & Co. Phipps subdivided what is now known as the El Cid Historic District in West Palm Beach, Florida, and was owner of the estate Casa Bendita, designed by Addison Mizner, in Palm Beach, Florida.
