Scope and Contents
The Jessup collection includes 1,400-plus drawings from the cabinetmaking shop of Jessup, Inc., it is the largest surviving document of the sixty-six-year-old firm. The drawings are technical rather than illustrative and include commissions for projects in Palm Beach, Hobe Sound, and Grosse Pointe, Michigan to name a few. Many of the commissions are for projects by architects Marion Sims Wyeth and John Volk who are also in the Foundation’s collections. The scrapbook is 13” x 10” and approximately 30 pages assembled circa 1935. It is a combination of purchased photos of attractions and some personal photos of Jessup and her husband John and sister Peggy. It includes: playbills, menus, hotel receipts, and Silver Jubilee Year ephemera. The itinerary includes: London, Cambridge, Paris, Brussels, Antwerp, The Hague, and Haarlem.
