Scope and Contents
The Barbara Hoffstot collection preserves her efforts to create a historic preservation commission and community in Palm Beach, Florida, throughout the 1970s-1980s. It includes original and reproduction photographic material of her photographic survey of Palm Beach historic properties, as well as reports and personal correspondence.

Custodial History
Materials in this series were found in a box labled "Hoffstot materials loaned for exhibit." This refers to the 2019 exhibition on Hoffstot and the development of the Palm Beach landmarks ordinance. Another note from July 2021 states "Loaned for landmark exh, possibly returned?" indicating that these materials were not able to be returned to their original owner. No official accession record or deed of gift exists and no living relative of Hoffstot could be identified at this time. 06.11.2025
