LeBaron Willard Papers
Scope and Contents
The LaBaron Willard Jr. Papers (1977-1983) contain the records documenting the work of Willard during his time as the President of the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach. Materials include personal correspondence, handwritten notes and memos, and internal institutional PFPB records. Other materials include newspaper clippings, newsletters, brochures, press releases and documentation relating to Preservation Foundation projects.
Major projects within materials of this collection include: the Blossom Estate, the subdividing of the Paramount Building, the proposed purchase of Mar-a-largo, and the "Crisis Overhead Campaign" that fought the Palm Beach International Airport over noise pollution.

Biographical / Historical
LeBaron S. Willard Jr. (1909-1994) received his BA from Harvard University. He served in the Navy in World War II from 1942-1946. Prior to his work in Palm Beach, he worked in Boston for Commercial Credit Corps. He served as a founding member of the Landmark Preservation Commission and as the first president of the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach. He was a member at the Bath and Tennis Club, Everglades Club, and Seminole Club as well as the vice president for the Society of the Four Arts. He sat on many charitable boards in New York, including The American Red Cross and Salvation Army.
His work at the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach helped to bridge the gap between private and public preservation.
